Fit and Glossy — fitandglossy.com — runs on advertising revenue. That means third parties are involved in how this site works, and you deserve a straight account of what data moves around and why. Here it is.

What We Collect

There are two buckets.

Information you hand us directly — if you fill out a contact form, sign up for a newsletter, or email us, we collect what you put in: your name, email address, and whatever you wrote.

Information collected automatically — the moment you load a page, our servers and third-party tools log: your IP address, device type, operating system, browser, referring URL, pages viewed, time on page, and general geographic location (city/region level, derived from IP). This happens whether or not you fill out a single form.

Cookies & Similar Tech

We use cookies — small text files stored on your device — along with pixels, device identifiers, and similar tracking technologies. They fall into three categories:

  • Strictly necessary. These keep the site functioning. No opt-out, because without them the site breaks.
  • Analytics. These tell us which articles people read, how long they stay, and where they drop off. The data helps us publish better content. They're not required for the site to work.
  • Advertising. These are the big ones. Ad partners use them to serve ads, measure whether those ads worked, and build interest profiles over time. More on this below.

Advertising & Third Parties

Fit and Glossy is supported by advertising. Ads fund the editorial work. Full stop.

To make that work, we work with third-party ad networks, supply-side platforms (SSPs), and measurement vendors. Those partners may:

  • Set their own cookies or use device identifiers when you visit this site
  • Collect data about your browsing behavior across sites and over time
  • Use that data to serve you interest-based (personalized) advertising
  • Measure ad performance and report aggregated results back to advertisers

We don't control what those partners collect once their code runs on a page — their own privacy policies govern their practices.

Under US state privacy laws (including the CCPA and CPRA), some of this data activity qualifies as a "sale" or "sharing" of personal information, even when no money changes hands. You have the right to opt out. Here's how:

  • Browser opt-out: Use your browser's built-in privacy controls to block third-party cookies.
  • Global Privacy Control (GPC): Enable GPC in a compatible browser or extension. We honor GPC signals as an opt-out of sale/sharing.
  • Industry opt-out tools: Visit optout.aboutads.info or optout.networkadvertising.org to opt out of participating ad networks.

Your Rights & How to Use Them

If you're in the EEA or UK (GDPR): You have the right to access, correct, or delete your personal data; restrict or object to processing; and request data portability. Where processing is based on consent, you can withdraw it at any time. To exercise any of these, email hello@fitandglossy.com. We'll respond within 30 days. If you're not satisfied with our response, you have the right to lodge a complaint with your local supervisory authority.

If you're in California or another US state with a privacy law (CCPA/CPRA and similar): You have the right to know what personal information we've collected and how it's used; to delete your data (with exceptions); to correct inaccurate data; to opt out of the sale or sharing of your data for targeted advertising; and to not be discriminated against for exercising these rights. Submit requests to hello@fitandglossy.com. We do not sell data to data brokers. The sale/sharing we've described above relates specifically to the ad ecosystem.

Retention & Security

We keep contact and newsletter data for as long as the relationship is active, plus a reasonable period after. Server logs are retained per our hosting provider's standard schedule. We use standard technical measures to protect data in transit and at rest — no system is impenetrable, but we're not cavalier about it.

Children

Fit and Glossy is a general-audience publication, is not directed to children under 13, and does not knowingly collect personal information from them.
